SOLARBUS WHY ? The solarbus is a solution to a problem faced by us in the UK in the early 1990's and possibly still faces many people today. The Problem Lack of affordable housing for young people,sure you can rent or squat,but it's never your own to do with as you will so isn't worth investing in.You could by a caravan or convert a van into a camper van but it's so small to live in full time (we'd already tried that one) and electricity can only be generated by starting the engine on a motorcaravan or starting a generator.We love our music but cannot justify burning petrol and diesel so inefficiently just for that.Apart from the high cost,there's already enough people burning hydrocarbons for pleasure on this planet.Traditional caravans are also very cold in the UK winter.Anyway we wanted somewhere with at least the same quality if life as a one bedroomed flat and this needed space.The so called New Age Traveller style was close with woodburners to keep warm in the winter,but insecurities about your park-up caused by draconian anti-freedom laws such as the 1969 Caravans Act and the Criminal Justice Act,combined with the fact that we were sick of winter nights stuck in the back of a truck with no music,TV or electric light........and our solution...click here. |
