SOLARBUS WHAT ?
Bristol VRT SL2 Chassis with Gardner 6LX engine
The solarbus is based on this chassis engine combination and fully fitted has a kerb weight of about 13 tons. Apart from a full chassis rebuild we fitted a massive VRT3 radiator fan,a reversing beeper,VRT3 rear light clusters,central locking,hazard lights,halogen headlights,internal PA,and the extended power supply.We also added a skylight,a bike rack and panelled over 2 nearside windows. The engine is a standard 10.4 litre 6 cylinder Gardner 6LX develpoing 150 BHP and a top speed of 70 km/h through a 5 speed semi automatic air controlled gearbox with a fluid flywheel..We plan to add a second 12V alternator.
