SOLARBUS WHAT ?
Solarbus Power Supply The solarbus can draw power from multiple sources. The main system is 12V DC solarpower stored in 4 75AH batteries and charged by 2 50W BP solar panels through a solarex pulse width mode charge regulator. There are also 2 small 9W BP panels in sereis to provide trickle charge to the main engine batteries which also power the Peterson 24VDC electric doors. In winter we have the Aerogen windgenorator which gives a small amount of top up power.
Then there is the 550W Nissan petrol genorator on board in a force ventilated soundproofed enclosure near the engine which gives us 240V AC when needed. We also have a twin 26A 240V AC mains hook up and this is on an auto switch over relay with the generator. When on the move the 4 75AH batteries are rewired through a set of contactors in a 24VDC mode as opposed to their normal 12V mode,so that they can be charged by the engines 60A 24VDC alternator.12V DC power can still be drawn from just 2 of the batteries. This is a custom system designed by us. We have plans to fit a 12VDC-240VAC Trace inverter to give us permanent low level mainspower.
